Haywards Heath College teams up with local football club

14 January 2021

Haywards Heath College and Haywards Heath Town Football Club have combined forces to launch a new football academy.

The new college academy will give students the opportunity to develop their talent on the pitch, while also receiving a high-quality education. The partnership with Haywards Heath Town FC will also provide college players a pathway and opportunities to progress into semi-professional football. Ben Frier, Vice Principal at Haywards Heath College, said: “We are delighted to be working with our local football club to provide fantastic opportunities for our students. “Working with our community is a priority for us, and it’s great to be opening in September with the football club already supporting the college. “We want to provide students with the best opportunities to develop their personal, social, educational and sporting skills. “The club has been incredibly supportive of our vision both for the academy and the college and we are looking forward to working with them to deliver an outstanding programme for our students and their players.”

Mick Cottingham, Chairman of Haywards Heath Town FC, added: “The club is very much a community club, and now the town has a college once again – with a new football academy – it will be fantastic to offer young people in the area the opportunity to play at Hanbury Stadium for their college. “Hopefully some of them will have the opportunity to also play for the Heath at some point.”
