Haywards Heath College has a range of specialist academies.

Academies

Our academies are embedded within the curriculum in Performing Arts, Visual Arts, STEM and Sport. Being a part of an academy helps you to develop essential skills for life, such as planning and organisation, communication, personal resilience and teamwork. They are also great experience for your CV or personal statement, supporting your progression to employment or university!

Academies

The academies are designed to offer a range of enriching and inspiring opportunities and activities that support and extend your learning, build self-confidence, reward achievement and promote ambitious progression and employability.

PERFORMING ARTS

The Academy of Performing Arts has strong links within the performing arts industries, helping you develop links as well as hone your technical and performance skills. You’ll also be able to access a range of fantastic opportunities, including performing at our very own Hub Theatre, as well as theatres in Mid Sussex and Brighton. The Rock Challenge and New Views, script writing for original performance, are other fantastic opportunities to explore.

STEM

The STEM Academy offers students who are studying science, technology, engineering and maths courses extra opportunities outside the classroom. We provide information about STEM careers and offer a range of enjoyable activities, trips and competitions to help students build friendships and enrich their studies.

SPORT

Our Sport Academy offers opportunities in men’s basketball, men’s and women’s football, men’s rugby and netball, with some teams running in association with Worthing College. There is provision for women’s rugby and women’s basketball pending student interest. We are also proud to be working with Haywards Heath Town Football Club, giving our players direct opportunities to progress into semi-professional club football as well as to work with Academy coaches.

Our focus is to not only develop your performance as a player, but to also achieve academic excellence. We balance training with your academic commitments, ensuring you can meet your potential in both areas, leading to a wider range of progression opportunities through university, apprenticeships or employment.

Students also have the opportunity to compete as individual athletes through AOC competitions.

VISUAL ARTS

The Academy of Arts offers students who are studying visual arts, film and media courses a range of enriching and interesting opportunities and activities. These will support and extend your learning, reward achievement and promote ambitious progression and employability.
