Creative & Performing Arts RSL Extended Diploma (Musical Theatre)

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Extended Diploma in Performing Arts is a vibrant and immersive two-year programme designed for students who are passionate about performance and eager to explore the full spectrum of the performing arts. Whether your interests lie in acting, dance, musical theatre, or a combination of all three, this course offers a rich and varied experience that nurtures talent, builds confidence, and prepares you for the next step in your creative journey.
From the very beginning, learners are encouraged to experiment, collaborate, and grow as performers. The course blends practical training with creative exploration, giving students the opportunity to develop core skills in movement, voice, characterisation, choreography, and ensemble work. You’;ll take part in workshops, rehearsals, and live performances, working both independently and as part of a company to bring ideas to life on stage.
Throughout the programme, you’;ll engage with a wide range of performance styles and techniques, from classical texts and contemporary theatre to devised work and musical theatre pieces. You’;ll also gain insight into the professional world, learning how to prepare for auditions, promote yourself as a performer, and plan for a career in the creative industries.
As the course progresses, you’;ll take on increasingly ambitious projects, culminating in a final major performance that showcases your development and celebrates your unique artistic voice. Along the way, you’;ll build essential skills in communication, teamwork, resilience, and self-reflection—qualities that are as valuable off stage as they are on it.
Whether you dream of performing on stage, working behind the scenes, or continuing your studies at university or drama school, the Extended Diploma in Performing Arts provides the foundation, the experience, and the inspiration to help you get there.
