This intensive, one-year course is designed for emerging creatives ready to take their practice to the next level. The Level 4 RSL Diploma for Creative Practitioners offers a unique opportunity to refine your artistic voice, develop industry-ready skills, and build a professional portfolio that supports progression into higher education or employment.
Through a combination of practical workshops, independent projects, and collaborative assignments, you’;ll explore creative problem-solving, project management, and professional development within your chosen discipline. Applicants should typically have completed a Level 3 qualification in a relevant creative subject, such as music, performing arts, or creative media. However, the course also welcomes individuals with equivalent experience, a strong creative portfolio, or a body of work that demonstrates readiness for advanced study.
You must be aged 18 or over, and able to show commitment to developing your creative practice professionally. Entry is based on your potential, passion, and ability to engage with industry-focused projects and independent learning.
This diploma is designed to help you take the next step in your creative journey. Many students progress to university or specialist arts institutions to study subjects such as , music, performing arts, media, or design.
Others use the course to launch freelance careers, build creative portfolios, or move into entry-level roles within the creative industries. Whether you’re aiming for higher education or professional practice, the course equips you with the skills, confidence, and experience to succeed.
Assessment on this course is entirely practical and portfolio-based. You’;ll be evaluated through a series of creative projects, written reflections, and documentation of your development as a practitioner. There are no formal exams—instead, you’;ll build a professional portfolio that showcases your skills, ideas, and readiness for the creative industries or higher education.
Throughout the year, you’;ll respond to live briefs, explore your creative process, and reflect critically on your work. Your final portfolio is assessed internally and moderated externally by RSL Awards to ensure quality and consistency.
A studio fee of £150 applies to this course. This covers access to specialist facilities, equipment, and materials essential for your creative development—such as studio spaces, editing software, printing resources, and technical support.
