COURSE OVERVIEW
Equivalent to 2 A-levels.
The qualification is designed to prepare students for employment in the business sector, progression to higher education or apprenticeship opportunities. Students will have the opportunity to develop practical, interpersonal and thinking skills alongside gaining a theoretical understanding of business related topics. This qualification fits well alongside subjects such as Financial Studies and Economics. Government & Politics and Law are other popular subject combinations. All units are mandatory and cover: Units Year 1: • The Business Environment Exam. • Working in Business Exam. • Customers and Communication Coursework. • Marketing and Market Research Coursework. • Principles of Project Management Coursework. Units Year 2 (in addition to those units in Year 1): • Business Decisions Exam. • Change Management Exam. • Marketing Strategy Coursework. • Marketing Campaign Coursework. • Delivering a Business Project Coursework. To ensure students gain vital industry experience there is a requirement to complete some work experience. This is a 20-hour (one working week) requirement of all students working with local businesses in the area to develop an array of business skills. Students should explore possibilities early in the course to ensure a work experience placement of their preference. This ties in with units such as customers and communication and the Business environment. A range of teaching and learning styles are used during the course. Lessons include discussions, group work, role play, case studies, task- based learning, use of IT. The course is continuously assessed therefore students must be highly organised with a positive work ethic to ensure full success. Our excellent teaching staff are always on hand to support students during this course to provide an environment for success and progression. This can be in the form of 1:1 or group subject support.

You need a minimum of five GCSEs at 9-4, including grade 4 in English Language.
This is the equivalent of two A Levels in Business so it can be combined with a wide range of other subjects. Closely related subjects are Financial Studies and Economics, Politics and Law are other popular combinations. You cannot study CAMTEC Business alongside A Level Business.
This qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to meeting admissions requirements for many courses if taken alongside other qualifications as part of a two- year programme of learning. The course is also an extremely useful background for those considering setting up their own business. It provides an understanding of business, which will be useful for nearly all careers and workplaces giving students valuable skills and experience which can be used to gain employment.
Externally assessed units (50%/42% of the one/two- year course) will be examination based.
Internally assessed units (50%/58% of the one/two- year course) will be in a range of formats. These include practical tasks, written or typed documents, presentations as well as professional conversations and role plays.
