COURSE OVERVIEW
This hands-on beginner-friendly course is designed for adults who want to take control of their DSLR camera and start capturing stunning images with confidence. You’ll learn how to use your DSLR in full manual mode, covering the core principles of exposure, shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. No previous experience necessary, just bring your curiosity and your camera!
In addition to mastering your camera, you’;ll be introduced to the basics of editing using Adobe Lightroom. Learn how to enhance your images through simple adjustments like exposure, contrast, colour correction, and cropping, giving your photographs a polished and professional look.
Throughout the course, students will work from live briefs practical, real-world assignments designed to inspire creativity and develop technical skills. Each week, you’ll receive constructive in-class feedback to help you grow as a photographer.
Whether you’;re looking to start a new hobby, improve your creative eye, or build a foundation for future work in photography, this course offers a supportive and interactive learning environment to help you get there.
What You’;ll Learn:
- How to use a DSLR in full manual mode
- Understanding the exposure triangle (shutter speed, aperture, ISO)
- Composition basics and shooting techniques
- Introduction to Adobe Lightroom for beginners
- How to read and respond to live briefs
- How to review, critique, and improve your photos

- A tripod

FURTHER INFORMATION
This course is offered to anyone 19 years old and above.
An intermediate and/or advanced course may be offered in April subject to demand.
Throughout the course, students will:
- Complete weekly assignments to practice both digital and darkroom skills
- Participate in critiques for peer feedback and instructor guidance
- Submit a final project that showcases their best digital and darkroom work
